Seaver approved by the FEI on the CIC** of Berticheres: analysis of the data gathered on Marie-Charlotte Fuss’ cross-country run

      mardi, 5 juin, 2018

For the very first time, our Seaver girth sleeve was authorized in an international FEI event and we are very proud that the Young Rider European Champion 2016, Marie-Charlotte Fuss, used it on the 2* cross-country course of Berticheres’ Royal Jump.

After a majestic ride with her talented Anabolia, Marie-Charlotte Fuss moved up in the rankings to finish 9th of the CIC** out of 50 riders!

We decided to share with you exclusively the data that our connected equipment gathered during her ride on the cross-country course. We launched the training 10 minutes before the start of her warm-up. It lasted 55 minutes during which Anabolia burned nearly 8000 calories.
      ..

Before the warm-up, the mare’s heart rate was around 35 bpm, a very nomal rhythm for a well-trained horse at rest, despite the heat wave there was this first weekend of June.

During the x-country course, we can see the curve reaches the red zone and that the mare’s heart rate will reach and stabilize around 200 beats per minute: a very correct rate for such an effort, especially considering the high temperature. Regarding recovery, Anabolia took about 7-8 minutes to get back to a lower heart rate of 80 bpm.

It is very interesting to study speed data in regards to the heart rate curve. Here, Marie-Charlotte was going at an average speed of 550 m/min on the course, reaching a top speed of 600 m/min. Do note the evolution of the burned calories curve as well, which follows that of the heart rate.
      ..

Here is some flat work data from her ride; Anabolia’s elevation at canter, her symmetry percentage (we calculate symmetry when the horse is trotting on a straight line) and the gait distribution for the 55 minutes of the “training”.
      ..

Finally, the girth sleeve recorded 49 jumps: the 27 efforts of the cross-country course as well as the 22 jumps of the warm-up. The average height of the jumps is 1.28 meters and the maximum height jumped; 1.92,m! These data may look surprising and abnormally high… That is because we measure the height of the girth at the highest point of the flight path, and not the actual height of the jump. This can be useful to know the exact margin your horse puts above fences!

We also display the height and angle of each jump. You can find below the data of Anabolia’s first jump during the warm-up phase.
      ..

To conclude, here is the state of our girth sleeve after this superb ride: it came out of it a bit dirty but intact – it is of course shock- and water-resistant!

A huge thank you to Marie-Charlotte Fuss for allowing us to follow so closely her great sport performance... 😉
